Nebraska Boycotts the Word “Prime” After Football Loss and Controversial Exchange Involving Deion Sanders and Matt Rhule

Lincoln, NE — The ripple effect of last weekend’s Nebraska-Colorado football game continues to shape conversations both on and off the field. In an unexpected turn of events, Governor Jim Pillen unveiled Nebraska’s boycott of the word “prime” during a press conference yesterday. “Given the discordant atmosphere and the lack of respect shown to our guests, Nebraska has decided to boycott the word ‘prime’ in all state matters,” he explained. Governor Pillen also humorously addressed ongoing concerns, stating, “We’re still figuring out what to call ‘prime-rib’ going forward.”

The word “prime” will be removed from all state documents, public announcements, and discussions. For example, “prime real estate” will now be known as “exceptional real estate,” and “prime example” will become “perfect example.”

Public Reaction

The public is divided over the decision. “I support the state’s stance,” said Jenifer Alberts, a lifelong Filley, Nebraska resident. “We should strive for respectful dialogue and a more courteous atmosphere.”
 
However, others question the necessity of the boycott. “We lost a football game. Why is this becoming a state issue?” asked Tom Carlson, another resident of Lincoln, Nebraska.
